MPP Mike Harris presents Fitzroy Vanderpool with the King Charles III Coronation Medal
This prestigious honour recognizes individuals who have made a profound and lasting contribution to Ontario and to Canada.

WATERLOO — Minister of Natural Resources Mike Harris, Member of Provincial Parliament for Kitchener-Conestoga, joined Fitzroy Vanderpool at the Vanderpool Fitness & Boxing Gym on Monday April 7th, to present him with a King Charles III’s Coronation Medal.
Recipients of the medal have made a significant contribution to Canada and to Ontario and are selected for their long service and good conduct as a volunteer or member of an organization; for having demonstrated high professionalism and for performing a deed or activity that brings great credit to Canada.
“It is my pleasure to present Fitz with the King Charles III Coronation Medal,” said Mike Harris, Minister of Natural Resources and MPP for Kitchener-Conestoga. “Through his career he represented Canada on the world stage and has since established himself as a leader in our region, and as a role model for the young people in our community.”
Fitzroy is one of Canada’s most decorated professional champions, holding 6 titles:
- 1996 Canadian Professional Boxing Federation title
- 1997 World Boxing Federation Intercontinental title
- 1998 World Boxing Council Welterweight Fecarbox title
- 1999 World Boxing Federation Superwelterweight World title
- 2002 World Boxing Council Superwelterweight Fecarbox title
Fitzroy is the owner & president of Vanderpool Fitness & Boxing in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. He facilitates fitness boxing programs at his gym and in Waterloo Region schools, teaching students fitness through boxing and inspiring them to be successful individuals.
Having lived the dream of becoming a World champion Fitzroy also speaks at schools inspiring young people to set goals and chase their dreams.
As an International Fire Safety representative, Fitzroy speaks on fire safety and prevention. He is one of the first 10 people inducted into Eastwood Collegiate’s Wall of Recognition, and in 2008 he was inducted into the Waterloo County Hall of Fame.
In collaboration with the Region of Waterloo Food Bank, and in an effort to inspire the community to help those in need, Fitzroy will be hosting his annual Food Drive on Saturday, April 12th from 11 am to 1pm at the Vanderpool Fitness and Boxing Gym, located at 178B Weber Street North, Waterloo, ON.

- The Coronation Medal was created to mark the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, which took place on May 6, 2023. It is the first Canadian commemorative medal to mark a coronation.
- The Office of the Secretary to the Governor General is responsible for administering the King Charles III Coronation Medal Program in Canada. The medal will be awarded to 30,000 deserving individuals. The Office of the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario (OLGO) is proud to be partnering in this program by helping nominate deserving recipients.
- To be eligible for this honour, a person must: have made a significant contribution to Canada or to a particular province, territory, region of, or community in, Canada, or attained an outstanding achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada.
