Meet Mike Harris
Growing up in Northern Ontario he learned from a young age the importance rural communities play in the fabric of the province. Seeing firsthand how hard work and community spirit lead to economic growth and prosperity, whether it was running around his grandparent’s dairy farm as a child or enjoying the lakes and rivers around North Bay, helped to set the perspective he has today.
Mike has and continues to be a strong voice for the residents of Kitchener-Conestoga and the greater Region of Waterloo, developing relationships from the grassroots community level to fostering stronger partnerships with municipalities across the Region.
Mike also tabled legislation that led to the launch of Ontario’s Digital Dealership Registration program, reducing red tape for car dealers and streamlining the vehicle purchasing process for buyers across Ontario.
He has also championed child safety initiatives, introducing the Safer School Buses Act to see Ontario adopt the North American Standard for a safer amber-red warning light system for school buses.
Mike, his wife Kim and their five children live in Southwest Kitchener.
